Old graves found on Almaville site being cleared for schools

Old graves found on Almaville site being cleared for schools - Wednesday, 03/23/05

That's right, they found the elusive Morton Cemetery that I had wanted to search for. I had been a couple times before, but due to "no trespassing" signs, I had held back. (not that that stops me all the time ;)) And had no idea that this was going to be the location for the new schools here. I had figured it would be more subdivisions(as it is surrounded by). I had also heard that the new schools were going to be along Almaville Rd. So I kept driving up and down Almaville Rd looking for construction. Then the newspaper story hits, and it is on Channel 2 news. Well, at least they are going to treat them with respect and not just pave over them. I hate that they have to move them at all, but unfortunately that is progress. We have a quickly growing county, and with over 700 little graveyards all over-it is eventual that this will happen. At least care is being taken to remember them. Good deal there.

Well finally

Couldn't get in yesterday. Not that I'm in any rush. Got sick again last week-damn Sonic food. Decent weekend as Mikey finished 7th in both races. Too bad the Jr fans think its only because he was driving Jrs old cars. Shut the fuck up.

The kid had her first softball practice yesterday. So cute, she had so much fun. Its all 5- and 6-yr olds. But she was about the only one doing any hustling for the ball in the field. I'm sure the others will get better. She hit pretty good too. Her and another littler girl were knocking the crud outa the ball. I can't wait to see her in her little uniform. Not gonna yell at her and hope she is better than me and "live through her" blah blah blah, but I don't want to act like she does nothing wrong. She will learn to lose gracefully, but LOSING is part of life. These people who don't want to fail kids or whatever because they don't want to hurt their feelings ARE hurting our youth. Anyways...

"Deadwood" rocked Sunday night. I love this show.

Found some great graveyards in the eastern part of the county on Friday. One kinda spooky one too-this damn rooster or whatever was like screaming! the few minutes I was there. It didn't sound like a rooster-it sounded like someone screaming. I didn't stay long there, but I really want to go back soon-with someone! Found another one in Wilson Co that is awesomely old and had Revolutionary War soldiers and some great carvings.

Save Terry Schiavo, please God. Take her quickly or get her away from that ass of a "husband".

Sicker than a dog

Yesterday sucked. I couldn't even get out of bed. And I hate throwing up more than just about anything. At least I feel better today. And "Amazing Race" was awesome last night.(I'm glad I was able to stay awake for it) Rob is a STUD and I just adore him!! Ooh and I got the TV Guide today with him on the cover. Yummy. I have so much to do now, to catch up. And "Lost" is a repeat tonight, that sucks. But NEW "South Park" YEAH! And a new "Mythbusters".

Went by one new graveyard today down in Murfreesboro. One that hadn't been transcribed yet to my knowledge. I love finding things like that, things that may not have been seen by anyone that cares in quite a long time. Makes me feel good. I wish I could find a word for that. Anyways...

A new start

Ok, I downloaded the Firefox browser on saturday. I like it fine so far, but my "back" button on my mouse doesn't work anymore. I'm still trying to find the Google toolbar to add on so I can get my Blogger button back up there too. But so far, so good.

Deadwood premiered last night. A bit too dark for the first epi back, and not enough Doc, but I am certain it will get better.

I'm tired right now though. Too much work to do, including cleaning up pukey sheets from the kid who got sick around midnight. Joy.

Need to get some things done on my site, and then work on Find A Grave some more. I hope it rains all day long.

Beautiful day for gravehunting

After it looked like it was going to be a cloudy bust day for B having the day off, but after spending an hour in walmart, we came out to blue skies. Found one old graveyard in Lavergne. Many many unmarked graves in this one. So sad. Then onto the Batey Cemetery south of Smyrna. People next door had a TON of dogs and they did not shutup the whole time. Luckily there were only two marked graves at this one(and only four at the first one). Then onto the Clark Cemetery in Murfreesboro, not far from the Stones River battlefield. Only three graves at this one, at the end of a cul-de-sac. At least this one is sort of kept up(grass mowed) by the neighbors. That's cool. I love finding the little cemeteries that look like noone has visited in years. I feel so sorry for them, and feel like I connect somehow. I feel like I am "called" to them now. I know that probably sounds silly, but its true. And I feel like an archaeologist searching for and finding "lost treasure". That is a cool feeling. Anyhoo...good day. Topped off with a Reeses Sonic Blast. Yum. Good day.

Another day

It's beautiful outside but I don't feel like going out. I need to preplant my tomotoes, but I don't feel like it. I need to get rid of the blahs. I should go for a walk.

Lost was excellent last night. Charlie is so cute. But who knows how long til the next new episode. Ugh.

Jeopardy! in this new mass-tournament. Bah-just get to Ken Jennings already! I want Ken to be on every day.

Three more days until DEADWOOD! Hell yeah!!

No good Nascar this weekend. Bah.

Days til Deadwood

I have failed to mention how f'n excited I am that Deadwood will be back on Sunday. Five more days and I can't f'n wait!!!

Snow day

Haha. Snow day. A few flakes and we get to sit for an extra two hours to wait for the school bus. And then I drove around in the flurries looking for some more graveyards down towards 840. I think there are a few down there, but I just can't find them alone while driving. I did find one in another subdivision I had been looking for. Must have not been on the right street cos its right there. And then more time on research. Fun, but it hopefully proved fruitful as I think I may have found a few more cemeteries nearby on the zoning maps. Now I just need to get to them. I thought I couldn't wait for Winter to visit the cemeteries without worrying about weeds and bugs but I think now I just want it a bit warmer so I can get outside and do some walking.

Amazing Race tonight!! YEAH! Go Rob and Amber!!! Nothing else on tonight. But one more day until another awesome LOST!!!!
